Rumba
Rumba is a style of Cuban music and dance that originated in the late 19th century in the region of Matanzas. It is a combination of African and Spanish elements, and is a popular dance style in Latin America and around the world. Rumba music is characterized by a strong rhythmic foundation and melodic improvisation. It is traditionally performed with two drums and a clave (percussion instrument). The two main styles of rumba are guaguancΓ³ and columbia, both of which are characterized by call and response between lead singers and chorus, and by complex and intricate rhythmic patterns.
