Rowland S. Howard Vinyl Records

Rowland S. Howard (24 October 1959 – 30 December 2009) was an Australian guitarist, songwriter, vocalist and producer. He is best known for his work with the post-punk group The Birthday Party, and his subsequent solo career.

Rowland S. Howard's first major band was The Boys Next Door, which later became The Birthday Party. He wrote some of their most well-known songs, such as "Nick the Stripper" and "Shivers". After the group disbanded, he went on to form his own group, These Immortal Souls, with his then-girlfriend Genevieve McGuckin. They released two albums, Get Lost (Don't Lie) in 1987 and I'm Never Gonna Die Again in 1989.

Howard released his debut solo album, Teenage Snuff Film, in 1999. The album featured guest appearances from Nick Cave, Mick Harvey, Lydia Lunch and Jim Thirlwell. His follow-up solo album, Pop Crimes, was released in 2009 and featured contributions from Warren Ellis, Mick Harvey and others.

Some of his most acclaimed songs include "Shivers", "Sugar in the Bedroom", "Pop Crimes", "Exit Everything" and "White Wedding".

An interesting fact about Rowland S. Howard is that he was the guitarist for the all-star supergroup, The Monsters of Rock, which featured members from the likes of The Birthday Party, The Scientists, The Cruel Sea and The Go-Betweens.
