Roger Waters is an English rock musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer, best known as the co-founder, bassist, and lyricist of the progressive rock band Pink Floyd. He was born on September 6, 1943, in Great Bookham, Surrey, England.

Waters was the main lyricist of Pink Floyd, writing many of the band's songs, such as "Another Brick in the Wall," "Money," "Hey You," "Comfortably Numb," and "The Wall." He left the band in 1985, and embarked on a successful solo career, releasing four studio albums, The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking (1984), Radio K.A.O.S. (1987), Amused to Death (1992), and Is This the Life We Really Want? (2017).

Waters has also released two live albums, In the Flesh (2000) and The Wall Live in Berlin (1990). His standout albums include The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking and Radio K.A.O.S., while his standout songs include “The Powers That Be”, “Towers Of Faith”, “Radio Waves”, and “The Tide Is Turning”.

An interesting fact about Roger Waters is that he is an advocate for human rights and is a vocal opponent of the Israeli government's treatment of Palestinians. He has also been an advocate for animal rights, and has performed many benefit concerts for various causes.
