Rank & File Vinyl Records

Rank and File was a country rock and alternative country band formed in 1981 in Austin, Texas. The original members were Alejandro Escovedo, Chip and Tony Kinman, and two brothers, Slim and Slide Dunlap. The band released two studio albums, Sundown (1982) and Long Gone Dead (1984).

Sundown was a critical success and featured the classic songs "Shadowlands", "Amanda Ruth", "Ain't Nothin' Like a Night on the Town" and "Rank and File". The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

Long Gone Dead featured the songs "The Last One To Know", "Home of the Brave" and "Coyote". The album was well-received and was the band's highest charting album, reaching #76 on the Billboard 200.

Rank and File's music was a combination of country and punk rock, and the band was known for their energetic live performances. An interesting fact about the band is that Alejandro Escovedo went on to have a successful solo career and is considered one of the most influential figures in alternative country music.
