Progressive Bluegrass

Progressive Bluegrass is a style of bluegrass music that began in the late 1960s. It combines traditional bluegrass instrumentation and vocal styling with elements of jazz, rock, and country music. Progressive Bluegrass often features improvisation, extended instrumental solos, and complex arrangements. It is heavily influenced by the music of Bill Monroe and the Stanley Brothers, while also drawing inspiration from folk and classical music. The style has seen a resurgence in recent years as young musicians have embraced the genre and sought to expand upon its traditional boundaries.
