Plácido Domingo is one of the most renowned and respected opera singers of all time. Born in Madrid, Spain in 1941, Domingo began studying music at the age of six. He made his professional opera debut in 1959, and soon after was invited to join the Israel National Opera in Tel Aviv.

Throughout the 1960s, Domingo began to gain recognition for his powerful voice, and in 1966 he sang the lead role in the world premiere of Verdi's Don Carlos at the Opéra de Paris. He went on to appear at prestigious opera houses in Europe, South America, and the United States, including La Scala, the Vienna State Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and the Metropolitan Opera.

Domingo has released over 100 albums, including two Grammy Award-winning recordings of Verdi's La Traviata and Il Trovatore. He has also released a series of popular Spanish-language albums, including the two-volume set Plácido Domingo: Grandes Exitos. He has performed in numerous operas and released several collections of crossover music, including the albums Amor and Canciones Clásicas Españolas.

Some of his most popular songs include “O Soave Fanciulla,” from Puccini's La Bohème, “Nessun Dorma,” from Puccini's Turandot, and “Granada,” from the album of the same name.

An interesting fact about Placido Domingo is that he is one of the "Three Tenors," a group formed in 1990 with fellow opera singers José Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti. Together, they performed in concerts around the world and released a series of best-selling albums.
