Pilar Lorengar Vinyl Records
Pilar Lorengar (1928-1996) was a Spanish soprano who was internationally renowned for her interpretation of works from the classical, romantic, and Spanish operatic repertoires. She was particularly known for her portrayal of the title role in Verdi's "Aida" and her performances in the works of Mozart.
Lorengar made her debut at the Teatro Liceu in Barcelona in 1958 in "Lucrezia Borgia", and soon after made her international debut in Vienna in 1960 in the same role. She went on to appear in many of the world's leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House in London, the Vienna State Opera, and the Salzburg Festival.
Lorengar's most acclaimed recordings include Verdi's Requiem (1975) and Puccini's "La Bohème" (1974). She was also noted for her interpretations of operas by Mozart, such as "The Marriage of Figaro" and "The Magic Flute".
An interesting fact about Lorengar is that she was the first Spanish singer to perform at La Scala in Milan.
