Philip Glass is an American composer, widely regarded as one of the most influential composers of the late 20th and early 21th centuries. He is best known for his unique and often controversial style of minimalism which has been described as “music of space”.

Glass has released over 20 albums since his debut, including the influential 1976 album “Einstein on the Beach”. Other notable albums include “Koyaanisqatsi” (1982), “Songs from Liquid Days” (1986), and “The Hours” (2002). His most successful albums include “Akhnaten” (1984), “Koyaanisqatsi” (1982), and “The Hours” (2002).

His most popular songs include “Pruit Igoe” (from “Koyaanisqatsi”) and “The Hours” (from “The Hours”).

An interesting fact about Philip Glass is that he has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Score three times, for the films “Kundun” (1997), “The Hours” (2002), and “Notes on a Scandal” (2006). He has also won two Golden Globe Awards for Best Original Score.
