Orchestre De La Société Des Concerts Du Conservatoire was an orchestra based in Paris, France. It was founded in 1828 by François-Antoine Habeneck as the Société des Concerts du Conservatoire. It was one of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, with a long and distinguished history.
The orchestra made its first recordings in 1925 and in the 1940s, it became one of the first French orchestras to make records. Some of its most notable recordings include: The Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, and Debussy’s Nocturnes.
The orchestra also performed many world premieres, such as Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, Bizet’s Carmen, and Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé.
The orchestra was dissolved in 1967 and the Paris Conservatory Orchestra was created in its place.
An interesting fact about the orchestra is that in 1962, it became the first French orchestra to tour the United States, performing at Carnegie Hall in New York.
