Moon Duo Vinyl Records

Moon Duo is an American psychedelic rock band formed in 2009 by Wooden Shjips guitarist Ripley Johnson and Sanae Yamada. The duo's sound blends elements of krautrock, punk, and garage rock with an emphasis on psychedelic repetition and improvisation.

Their debut album, Escape, was released in 2011 and has since been hailed as one of the best psychedelic rock albums of the decade. The album featured standouts such as “Sleepwalker” and “Motorcycle, I Love You”, the latter of which was featured on the soundtrack for the video game Grand Theft Auto V.

Their second album, Circles, was released in 2012 and saw the band expanding their sound with a more expansive, layered approach. Standouts on the album include the title track, “Rolling Out” and “Free the Skull”.

In 2017, Moon Duo released their third album, Occult Architecture Vol. 1. The album featured a more electronic-influenced sound, while still retaining the band’s signature psychedelic elements. Standouts on the album include “Cult of Moloch” and “Cold Fear”.

The band’s fourth album, Stars Are the Light, was released in 2019 and saw the band embracing a more acoustic, folk-influenced sound. Standouts on the album include “New Dawn” and “Lost in Light”.

An interesting fact about Moon Duo is that they were the first American band to play the psychedelic rock festival, Liverpool Psych Fest.
