Momoe Yamaguchi is a Japanese pop singer, actress and television personality who was active from 1977 to 1980. She is one of the most iconic Japanese idols of the 1970s.

Yamaguchi began her career as a teen idol, releasing her debut single "Koibito yo" in 1977. She released her first album, Momoe Yamaguchi, in 1978, which was an instant success. Other standout albums include Watashi to Watashi (1979) and Dream (1980). Her singles "Akai Sweet Pea" and "Koi Hitoyo" were both hits in Japan and made her an iconic figure in the music industry.

Yamaguchi's most successful single was "Saraba Itoshiki Hito yo" (Farewell, Beloved One), which was released in 1979 and sold over two million copies in Japan. Other popular songs include "Omoide no Hotondo" (Most of the Memories), "Kokoro no Koe" (Voice of the Heart) and "Kimi no Iro" (Your Color).

Yamaguchi is also known for her acting roles in television dramas, such as "Moyuru Koibito" (The Burning Lover) and "Kazoku no Uta" (Song of the Family).
