Michael Nesmith Vinyl Records

Michael Nesmith is an American musician, singer, songwriter, actor, producer, novelist, and entrepreneur best known for being a member of the pop-rock band The Monkees. He has also had a successful solo career, with multiple gold albums and hit singles.

Nesmith's solo career began in 1970 with the release of his debut album, The Wichita Train Whistle Sings. He followed it up with Loose Salute (1970), Nevada Fighter (1971), Tantamount to Treason (1972), and The Prison (1975). His most successful album was 1981's And the Hits Just Keep on Comin', which reached the Top 20 of the US charts.

Some of Nesmith's most popular songs include "Different Drum" (with Linda Ronstadt), "Joanne," "Silver Moon," "Rio," and "Propinquity (I've Just Begun to Care)."

An interesting fact about Michael Nesmith is that he is credited with inventing the music video. In 1974, he created a series of short films to accompany the songs on his album, The Prison. These videos were the first of their kind, and the concept eventually became the basis for MTV.
