Metalcore

Metalcore is a fusion of heavy metal and hardcore punk that originated in the 1980s. It is characterized by aggressive guitar riffs and breakdowns, screamed vocals, and a mix of melody and aggression. It is often seen as a mix of traditional metal and hardcore punk, with both genres influencing each other. Metalcore bands often incorporate elements of traditional metal such as power chords, thrash metal-style riffs, and double-kick drumming. They also often incorporate elements of hardcore punk such as breakdowns and screamed vocals. The earliest metalcore bands were Earth Crisis and Integrity in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Since then, metalcore has become a popular subgenre of metal with many bands, such as Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, All That Remains, and Parkway Drive.
