Melissa Etheridge is an American singer-songwriter who has released 15 studio albums since 1988. Her most successful albums include Yes I Am (1993), Breakdown (1999), and Lucky (2004). Her most popular songs include "Come to My Window", "I'm the Only One", and "Bring Me Some Water".

Etheridge's breakthrough came in 1988 with her self-titled debut album, which went platinum. Her second album, Brave and Crazy (1989), earned her her first Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Yes I Am (1993) was the best-selling album of her career, selling over six million copies and featuring her first Top 40 hit, "Come to My Window".

Breakdown (1999) saw Etheridge achieve commercial success with the singles "Angels Would Fall" and "I Want to Come Over". The album was certified double platinum and won her a second Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. Her 2004 album Lucky featured the hit single "Breathe" and won her another Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.

An interesting fact about Etheridge is that she was one of the first celebrities to come out as a lesbian. She publicly announced her sexuality in January 1993, shortly before the release of her album Yes I Am.
