Max Bruch was a German composer, conductor, and teacher born in 1838. He is most well-known for his works for violin and orchestra, particularly his Violin Concerto No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 26. His other notable works include his Scottish Fantasy, Op. 46 and Kol Nidrei, Op. 47, as well as numerous works for choir.

Bruch's standout albums include Violin Concertos 1 & 2, which includes his two violin concertos as well as his Eight Pieces for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 83. His other standout albums include Bruch: 8 Pieces for Violin and Orchestra, Bruch: Scottish Fantasy and Kol Nidrei, and Bruch: Symphony No. 3.

Bruch's most famous songs include the aforementioned Violin Concerto No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 26, as well as his Kol Nidrei, Op. 47.

An interesting fact about Max Bruch is that he never formally studied music and was largely self-taught. He became a full-time composer at the age of 25 and had a successful career as a composer and conductor.
