Mastodon

Mastodon is an American heavy metal band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 2000. The band consists of bassist and vocalist Troy Sanders, guitarists Brent Hinds and Bill Kelliher, and drummer Brann Dailor. Their sound is rooted in hard rock, progressive metal, and sludge metal.

The band has released seven studio albums, their most successful being Crack the Skye (2009) and Once More 'Round the Sun (2014). The band's breakout album, Leviathan (2004), is a concept album based on the Moby-Dick novel by Herman Melville. The album was critically acclaimed and included the song "Blood and Thunder", which remains one of the band's most popular songs.

In 2017, Mastodon released their seventh album, Emperor of Sand. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album and featured singles such as "Show Yourself" and "Steambreather".

An interesting fact about Mastodon is that they collaborated with the rap group Killer Mike on the song "A Commotion" from their 2011 album The Hunter.
