Martha And The Muffins Vinyl Records

Martha and the Muffins is an influential Canadian new wave and synthpop group. Formed in 1977 in Toronto, the band was initially composed of vocalist and keyboardist Martha Johnson, guitarist Mark Gane, bassist Carl Finkle, and drummer Tim Gane.

The band's 1978 debut album Metro Music was met with critical and commercial success, producing the hit singles "Echo Beach" and "Saigon". Metro Music was followed by the 1980 album This Is the Ice Age and the 1982 album Mystery Walk, which was certified gold in Canada and yielded the hit single "Black Stations/White Stations".

In 1983, the band released the album Danseparc, which featured the hit single "Thrill Me". Martha and the Muffins' 1986 album, Modern Lullaby, included the hit single "Echo Beach '86".

The band has been on hiatus since 1989, although Martha Johnson and Mark Gane have since continued to collaborate on other projects.

The band is notable for being one of the first North American groups to use the Fairlight CMI synthesizer, which they used to compose their debut single, "Echo Beach".
