Bellson was a prominent figure in the jazz world for over 70 years. He played with many of the biggest names in the genre, including Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Armstrong. He was also the leader of his own big band, and released many acclaimed albums over the years.
Some of Bellson's standout albums include Skin Deep (1959), The Louis Bellson Explosion (1974), and The Louis Bellson Explosion II (1975). His most popular songs include "Skin Deep," "The Hucklebuck," and "Mack the Knife."
