The original lineup consisted of lead vocalist and bass guitarist Glenn Shorrock, guitarist and vocalist Graeham Goble, lead guitarist Beeb Birtles, drummer Derek Pellicci, and keyboardist and vocalist David Briggs.

The band's breakout success came with their second album, "Sleeper Catcher" (1978), which featured the Top 10 hit single "Reminiscing" and the Top 20 single "Lady". This album was also certified gold and peaked at number 7 on the US Billboard 200. Little River Band followed this success with the release of their third album, "First Under the Wire" (1979). This album contained the singles "Lonesome Loser" and "The Night Owls", both of which reached the Top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

The band's fourth album, "Time Exposure" (1981), was their most successful release, featuring the Top 10 hit singles "Take It Easy on Me" and "The Other Guy", as well as the Top 20 single "Man on Your Mind". The album was certified platinum and peaked at number 6 on the US Billboard 200.

The band's fifth album, "Playing to Win" (1985), featured the singles "No Secrets" and "The Way You Do the Things You Do", both of which reached the Top 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100. This album was certified gold and peaked at number 20 on the US Billboard 200.

Little River Band also released a number of compilations, including "Greatest Hits" (1983), "The Net" (1987), and "Greatest Hits Vol. 2" (1991).

An interesting fact about Little River Band is that they were the first Australian rock band to have international success in the United States. They were also the first Australian band to have five top 20 hit singles on the US Billboard Hot 100.
