Lionel Hampton was an American jazz vibraphonist, pianist, percussionist, and bandleader. He was born in 1908 and was a major influence in the swing era of the 1930s. He was best known for his work with Benny Goodman in the 1930s, as well as his own orchestra from the 1940s onwards.
Hampton's most successful albums include: The Lionel Hampton Story (1953), Flying Home (1955), Lionel Hampton & Friends (1958), and Hey! Ba-Ba-Re-Bop (1972).
Some of his most popular songs include "Flying Home", "Hey! Ba-Ba-Re-Bop", "Gee Baby, Ain't I Good To You", and "Flying Home No. 2".
An interesting fact about Lionel Hampton is that he was the first musician to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
