Lazar Berman Vinyl Records

Lazar Berman was a Russian-born classical pianist and teacher who lived from 1930 to 2005. He is widely considered one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century.

Berman was born in Leningrad and studied piano from the age of five. His teacher, Lev Oborin, was one of the greatest Russian pianists of the era. Berman was accepted into the Moscow Conservatory at age 15 and graduated at 19, when he became a professor at the conservatory.

Berman's musical style was known for its intensity and power. His most well-known recordings include the Rachmaninoff Third and Fourth Concertos, the Scriabin Sonatas, and the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1. He also recorded many of Chopin's works, including the Polonaises, the Waltzes, and the Ballades.

Berman's most famous albums include Chopin: The Complete Works, released in 1978; Rachmaninoff: The Complete Works, released in 1982; and Scriabin: The Complete Piano Sonatas, released in 1985.

An interesting fact about Berman is that he was a close friend of Leonard Bernstein, who wrote his Symphony No. 3 in memory of Berman.
