Kelis is an American singer, songwriter and chef. She first came to prominence in the late 1990s with her first album, Kaleidoscope, released in 1999. The album featured her breakout single, "Caught Out There", which was a success in the United Kingdom and the United States. Kelis then released her second album, Wanderland, in 2001, which saw her transition to a more alternative sound. The album featured the hit single "Milkshake", which has become her signature song. Kelis's third album, Tasty, released in 2003, was her most successful to date and featured the hit singles "Milkshake", "Trick Me" and "Millionaire". The album was certified gold in the United States and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album. Her fourth album, Kelis Was Here, released in 2006, saw her venture into hip hop and R&B, and spawned the singles "Bossy" and "Lil Star". Kelis's fifth album, Flesh Tone, was released in 2010 and saw her move away from R&B and back towards dance music. The album spawned the hit singles "Acapella" and "4th of July (Fireworks)". Her sixth album, Food, was released in 2014 and was a tribute to her newfound passion for cooking. The album featured the single "Jerk Ribs", which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance. An interesting fact about Kelis is that she released a cookbook in 2017 titled My Life On A Plate.
