Kamasi Washington

Kamasi Washington is an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and producer from Los Angeles, California. He has released four studio albums, most recently the 2019 double album Heaven and Earth, and has collaborated with a number of notable hip-hop, funk, and soul artists. He has played with a wide range of musicians, including Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus, Herbie Hancock, and Lauryn Hill.

Washington's breakout album, The Epic, was released in 2015 and was highly praised for its expansive scope and technical mastery. It was followed by Harmony of Difference in 2017, which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Album. His most recent album, Heaven and Earth, is a double album that explores the themes of inner- and outer-worlds.

Washington's standout albums and songs include "The Rhythm Changes" and "Street Fighter Mas" from The Epic, "Truth" from Harmony of Difference, and "Fists of Fury" and "Vi Lua Vi Sol" from Heaven and Earth.

An interesting fact about Kamasi Washington is that he was a member of the band West Coast Get Down, a collective of jazz musicians from Los Angeles who have collaborated with each other and released albums together.
