Julie London was an American singer, actress, and songwriter born in 1926 in Santa Rosa, California. She was best known for her smoky, sultry voice, and for her signature song “Cry Me a River”.

London's first album, Julie Is Her Name, was released in 1955 and featured her signature hit. Other standout albums include Calendar Girl (1960) and Lonely Girl (1961).

London was also a successful actress, appearing in films like The Fat Man (1951) and The Bad and the Beautiful (1952). She was also the star of the popular 1960s TV show Emergency!, in which she played a nurse.

In addition to her singing and acting career, London was an accomplished songwriter. She wrote songs for other artists, such as "Nice Girls Don't Stay for Breakfast" (written for Frank Sinatra) and "Happiness Is a Thing Called Joe" (written for Ella Fitzgerald).

An interesting fact about Julie London is that she was married twice, once to Jack Webb, who starred in Emergency!, and once to Bobby Troup, who wrote her signature song, “Cry Me a River”.
