Johnny Rivers is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist who has been active in the music industry since the early 1960s. His career has spanned many musical genres, including rock and roll, blues, folk, and country.

Rivers first came to prominence with his 1964 hit single “Memphis”, which reached number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Other well-known singles include “Secret Agent Man”, “Poor Side of Town”, “Rockin’ Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu”, and “Summer Rain”.

Rivers has released numerous albums over the years, including his 1964 debut album, Johnny Rivers Rocks the Folk, 1965’s Johnny Rivers at the Whisky a Go Go, and 1966’s Changes. Other standout albums include 1967’s Realization, 1969’s Slim Slo Slider, and 1971’s Last Train to Memphis.

An interesting fact about Johnny Rivers is that he was the first artist to record at the legendary Los Angeles venue, The Troubadour. Rivers performed at the venue's opening night in 1957 and recorded his first album, Johnny Rivers Rocks the Folk, there in 1964.
