Johnny Chester

Johnny Chester is an Australian country and rock music singer, songwriter and performer. He has been an active musician since the late 1960s and has released over 30 albums in his career.

His most successful albums include Sing Along With Johnny Chester (1971) and Johnny Chester & The Long Johns (1975). Sing Along With Johnny Chester was his first album and featured many of his classic songs such as “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You”, “Stony Point” and “Streets of Laredo”. Johnny Chester & The Long Johns was a live album which featured a mix of country and rock songs, including “I Don’t Wanna Cry Anymore” and “Proud Mary”.

Johnny Chester’s songs have been covered by many other artists including Slim Dusty, Glenn Shorrock and Bob Dylan. He has also collaborated with other musicians such as Paul Kelly and Bruce Woodley.

An interesting fact about Johnny Chester is that he was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1998.
