John Scofield
John Scofield is an American jazz guitarist, composer and bandleader who has become one of the most acclaimed and influential jazz guitarists of his generation. Born in 1951 in Dayton, Ohio, Scofield grew up in Wilton, Connecticut, where he began playing guitar at the age of 11. He studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and went on to become a major figure in the jazz fusion movement of the late 1970s.
Scofield has released a prolific and diverse catalogue of albums over the years, including the acclaimed “Electric Outlet” (1984), “Loud Jazz” (1986), and “Pick Hits Live” (1993). He has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Miles Davis, Pat Metheny, Joe Lovano, and many more. His songwriting has been featured on the soundtracks to films such as “Havana” and “Thelma & Louise”.
Some of Scofield's standout albums include “Still Warm” (1986), “A Go Go” (1998), and “Uberjam” (2002). Popular songs include “I Can See Your House From Here”, “A Go Go”, and “I'm In The Mood For Love”.
An interesting fact about John Scofield is that he was a member of the band "Miles Davis Quintet" in the 1980s. He was also a founding member of the band Medeski Martin & Wood.
