Jefferson Starship is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1974 as a spin-off of the band Jefferson Airplane. The band originally featured former Jefferson Airplane members Paul Kantner, Grace Slick, Marty Balin, and Jack Casady, as well as keyboardist/vocalist David Freiberg. The group's biggest commercial success came in the late 1970s and early 1980s with a string of top 40 hits, including "Miracles" (1975), "With Your Love" (1976), "Count On Me" (1978), "Jane" (1979), and "Find Your Way Back" (1981).

Their most successful albums include Dragon Fly (1974), Red Octopus (1975), Spitfire (1976), and Freedom at Point Zero (1979). Standout songs from these albums include "Ride the Tiger" (1974), "Miracles" (1975), "With Your Love" (1976), "Runaway" (1978), "Jane" (1979), and "Find Your Way Back" (1981).

An interesting fact about Jefferson Starship is that in the mid-1980s the band changed its name to Starship, and focused more on pop music. This change in musical direction proved to be quite successful, with Starship becoming one of the most popular bands of the decade, scoring multiple number one hits such as "We Built This City" (1985) and "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" (1987).
