Jean Sibelius (1865β1957) was a Finnish composer and one of the most influential composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His music is often described as being "nationalistic" because he often drew on the musical folklore of his homeland. He is best known for his seven symphonies, his Violin Concerto, and his tone poem Finlandia.
Sibelius' standout albums include Symphony No. 5, Violin Concerto, Symphony No. 2, and Kullervo. His standout songs include Finlandia, The Swan of Tuonela, Valse Triste, and En Saga.
An interesting fact about Sibelius is that he was a passionate lover of nature. He would often take long walks in the countryside and was inspired by the beauty of his homeland. He is even said to have composed some of his works while sitting in a tree!
