Janie Fricke is an American country music singer who was born in South Whitley, Indiana. She began her career as a background vocalist, before launching her solo career in the early 1980s. Throughout her career, she has released 18 studio albums and charted more than 35 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Fricke's most successful albums include It Ain't Easy (1982), Down to My Last Broken Heart (1983), and Janie Fricke (1984). Her most successful songs include "He's a Heartache (Looking for a Place to Happen)", "It Ain't Easy Bein' Easy", "Tell Me a Lie", "Down to My Last Broken Heart", "You Don't Know Love", and "I'll Need Someone to Hold Me (When I Cry)".

An interesting fact about Fricke is that she sang duets with the likes of Willie Nelson, Johnny Lee, Kenny Rogers, Ronnie Milsap, and Charley Pride. In addition, she has been nominated for two Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Indiana Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016.
