James is an English alternative rock band formed in 1982 in Manchester. The band is composed of Tim Booth, Jim Glennie, Saul Davies, Mark Hunter, David Baynton-Power, and Andy Diagram. James is known for their introspective, passionate lyrics, catchy melodies, and a unique blend of rock, folk, and dance. Their debut album, Stutter, was released in 1986 and includes the singles “Sit Down”, “Come Home” and “How Was It For You”. The band’s most successful album, Laid, was released in 1993 and spawned the singles “Laid”, “Say Something”, “She’s a Star”, and “Sometimes”. Other popular albums include Gold Mother (1990), Seven (1992), Pleased to Meet You (2001), Hey Ma (2008), and La Petite Mort (2014).
