Ian Dury Vinyl Records

Ian Dury (12 May 1942 – 27 March 2000) was an English singer-songwriter, bandleader, actor, poet and painter. He was the lead singer of the British new wave band Ian Dury and the Blockheads, which also included saxophonist Davey Payne, guitarist Chaz Jankel, bassist Norman Watt-Roy, drummer Charley Charles, and keyboardist Mick Gallagher.

Dury's work is noted for its irreverent wit, outspokenness and humour. His lyrics, which often covered topics such as disability, sex and drugs, were controversial at the time of release.

Dury's most successful and acclaimed album was New Boots and Panties!! (1977), which featured the hits "Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll", "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick" and "Reasons to be Cheerful, Part 3". This album was also voted the number one album of 1977 by the readers of NME magazine.

Other notable albums include Do It Yourself (1979), Laughter (1980) and Mr. Love Pants (1998).

Dury is also known for his collaboration with the Blockheads on the song "Reasons to Be Cheerful, Part 3", which became an anthem for the punk movement in the UK.

Interesting fact: Ian Dury was diagnosed with polio at the age of seven and spent six months in hospital. He was left with permanent physical disabilities, which he often wrote about in his lyrics.
