British violinist born 22 September 1929 in Beckenham, Kent, England, UK and died 26 December 2003.
He attended the studying further at /. Founding member of the Boise Trio. Sub-leader initially and then Leader of The Philharmonia Orchestra/New Philharmonia Orchestra between 1956 and 1967, then after leader of the BBC Symphony Orchestra (1967-1969) and The London Symphony Orchestra. Founding member of The Music Group Of London (1966-1976). In 1989, he returned to the Philharmonia Orchestra as co-leader, and became Leader Emeritus.
At the age of 24, he was appointed professor of violin at the Royal College of Music (1954-1992).
He was appointed FRCM in 1968, was awarded the Cobbett Gold Medal for chamber music in 1969 and created a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1970.
