Herb Alpert Vinyl Records

Herb Alpert is a nine-time Grammy Award-winning musician, producer, and philanthropist. Alpert was born in Los Angeles in 1935, and began his music career as a trumpet player in the 1950s. In 1962, he formed the band The Tijuana Brass, which was responsible for creating the distinct sound of Mexican-influenced jazz and pop that became known as “the sound of the Sixties.”

The Tijuana Brass' biggest hit was “The Lonely Bull” in 1962, which was the first of nine consecutive Billboard Top Ten singles. Other standout albums include Whipped Cream & Other Delights (1965), Going Places (1965), S.R.O. (1966), and South of the Border (1967).

In addition to his work with The Tijuana Brass, Alpert has released numerous solo albums and collaborations, including Come Fly with Me (1975), Keep Your Eye on Me (1987), and the 2009 album, Anything Goes. His most successful solo singles include “Rise” (1979), “Diamonds” (1987), and “Making Love in the Rain” (1996).

An interesting fact about Herb Alpert is that he and his wife Lani Hall were both inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2006, making them the first married couple to receive the honor.
