Helen Reddy

Helen Reddy is an Australian singer, songwriter, and actress best known for her 1970s hits, such as “I Am Woman”, “Delta Dawn”, and “Ain’t No Way To Treat a Lady”. She was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1941 and began her career singing on Australian television in the 1960s. Her first big break came in 1971 with the release of her debut album I Don’t Know How to Love Him, which reached number one in Australia. This was followed by her hit single “I Am Woman”, which topped the charts in the United States and Canada and reached number three in Australia.

Other standout albums and songs include the 1973 album Long Hard Climb, which featured the single “Delta Dawn”, and the 1976 album Ear Candy, which included the hit “Ain’t No Way To Treat a Lady”. In 1975, Reddy won the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for her song “I Am Woman”.

An interesting fact about Helen Reddy is that she was the first female performer to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
