Helen Humes (1913-1981) was an American jazz and blues singer and songwriter. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, she began performing professionally as a teenager in the 1920s. She was known for her clear, controlled vocals, and for her ability to sing in a variety of styles, including blues, pop, and jazz.

Helen Humes's most successful albums include the 1947 release The Swinging Helen Humes and the 1951 album Bebop Spoken Here. The former featured her interpretations of jazz standards such as “I Got Rhythm” and “Tenderly”, while the latter focused on bebop and swing music. Some of her standout songs include “Don’t Blame Me”, “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love”, “Gee Baby Ain’t I Good To You”, and “I Don’t Stand A Ghost Of A Chance”.

An interesting fact about Helen Humes is that she appeared in the 1946 musical comedy movie Three Little Girls in Blue. She played the role of a maid named Liza and sang three songs in the film.
