Harry Edison Vinyl Records

Harry Edison (1915-1999) was an American jazz trumpeter who was an integral part of the swing era of the 1930s and 1940s. He was a member of the Count Basie Orchestra from 1936 to 1941, and also performed and recorded with Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Frank Sinatra, among others.

Edison's most successful albums include the 1955 album Sweets, which was recorded with the Count Basie Orchestra, and the 1962 album Sweets Ballads, which was recorded with the Jazz Interaction Orchestra. Some of his standout songs include "Honeysuckle Rose," "Jumpin' at the Woodside," and "Everyday I Have the Blues."

An interesting fact about Edison is that he was the first jazz trumpeter to successfully play and record in the high-note style, which was very difficult at the time. He was able to do this by using a very thin-lipped embouchure, which allowed him to hit the higher notes with ease.
