Harold Land Vinyl Records

Harold Land is an American jazz saxophonist and flutist known for his work in the hard bop and post-bop genres. Born in Houston, Texas in 1928, Land started playing saxophone at age 12 and soon became a regular performer in the local jazz scene.

Harold Land’s career as a recording artist began in the 1950s, when he released his debut album, Jazz Messengers, with the group of the same name. He went on to record several more albums with the group, including A Night in Tunisia (1956) and Hard Bop (1957). Throughout the 1960s, Land released a number of albums as a leader, including The Fox (1960), Eastward Ho! (1962), and Damisi (1965).

In the 1970s, Land was a member of the influential group The Crusaders, with whom he recorded several albums, including Chain Reaction (1975) and Those Southern Knights (1976). Land also released several solo albums during this period, including Choma (1975) and West Coast Blues (1977).

Throughout his career, Harold Land released a number of standout albums and songs, including "Witch Hunt" (1960), "Lush Life" (1962), "Tenderly" (1965), "Chain Reaction" (1975), and "Walking in Space" (1977).

An interesting fact about Harold Land is that he was the first African-American musician to be signed to the jazz label Contemporary Records.
