Hank Thompson (September 3, 1925 – November 6, 2007) was an American country music singer-songwriter and musician whose career spanned seven decades. He was one of the first country music artists to have a nationwide hit with "The Wild Side of Life" in 1952. Thompson's career was characterized by combining a traditional style with a more modern approach and he was a pioneer in the genre of honky tonk.
