Haircut One Hundred Vinyl Records

Haircut One Hundred are an English new wave band from the 1980s. They were formed in 1980 by Nick Heyward, Les Nemes, Phil Smith, Graham Jones and Fraser Smith. They are best known for their singles “Love Plus One” and “Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)”, both of which were top ten hits in the UK in 1982. Their debut album, Pelican West, was released in 1982 and reached number two in the UK Albums Chart. The album contained their two hit singles as well as the Top 40 hits “Fantastic Day” and “Nobody’s Fool”. The album was certified gold in the UK and has since been hailed as one of the best new wave albums of the 1980s. Their follow-up album, Paint and Paint, was released in 1984 and was their highest charting album in the UK, reaching number four. The album contained the hit single “Love’s Got Me in Triangles” as well as the fan favourites “Marine Boy” and “Milk Film”. Haircut One Hundred disbanded in 1986 and reunited in 2010 for a series of live dates. They released their first album in over 25 years, the critically acclaimed Absolute 80s, in 2011. An interesting fact about Haircut One Hundred is that their song “Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)” was sampled in the hit song “Let’s Groove” by Earth, Wind & Fire.
