Goanna Vinyl Records

Goanna was an Australian rock band formed in the early 1980s in the coastal town of Torquay, Victoria. The band was originally called Redgum, and then changed their name to Goanna after the lead singer, Shane Howard, wrote the song "Solid Rock".

Goanna's first album, Spirit of Place, was released in 1982 and featured their best-known hit single "Solid Rock". The song was a major success, reaching the top 5 on the ARIA charts and becoming an anthem for Indigenous rights in Australia. The album also featured the songs "Let the Franklin Flow" and "Common Ground", which were both well-received by fans.

The band's second album, Oceania, was released in 1984 and featured the single "Razor's Edge", which was another success for the band. The album was more political in nature, with songs such as "Walls of Berlin" and "Last Stand".

Goanna's third album, Time and Tide, was released in 1987 and featured the single "The Black Swan". This album was more pop-oriented and featured songs such as "Sons and Daughters", "One Small Step" and "Rising Sun".

Goanna's fourth and final album, Native Voices, was released in 1990. It featured the singles "Native Voices", "High Country" and "Lands of the Dreamtime".

Goanna's biggest hits include "Solid Rock", "Razor's Edge", "The Black Swan", "Native Voices" and "High Country".

An interesting fact about Goanna is that the band was one of the first Australian bands to take a stand against the logging of old-growth forests. In 1982, they released a single called "Let the Franklin Flow" to raise awareness of the issue and their concerts were used to help promote environmental awareness.
