Glenn Gould Vinyl Records
Glenn Gould was a Canadian pianist, composer and broadcaster who was known for his interpretations of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. He is widely considered one of the greatest pianists of all time. He was born in Toronto, Canada in 1932 and began studying piano at the age of three. He was recognized as a child prodigy and gave his first professional recital at the age of thirteen.
Gould's most famous albums include his 1955 recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations and his 1981 recording of Bach's The Art of the Fugue. His other major works include his 1981 recording of the Bach-Busoni Chaconne and his 1981 recording of Bach's Italian Concerto. He also recorded several albums of contemporary music, including his 1979 recording of the Piano Concertos of Gubaidulina, PΓ€rt and Schnittke.
One interesting fact about Gould is that he was an eccentric personality who would often hum or whistle as he played. He also preferred to record in isolation in a studio, as opposed to playing in front of a live audience. He believed that this allowed him to focus more on the music and to better express himself.
