Gail Davies is an American country music singer and songwriter. She is best known for her 1980 hit "I'll Be There," which was the first song written and performed by a female artist to reach number one on the Billboard country chart. She has released nine studio albums throughout her career, and has had a number of top-ten singles on the country charts.

Davies began her music career in the early 1970s, releasing her debut album, Gail Davies, in 1974. Her second album, The Game, was released in 1976 and featured the single "Someone Is Looking for Someone Like You," which reached number three on the country charts. Davies's third album, I Just Came Home to Count the Memories, was released in 1978 and featured the single "I'll Be There," which became her first number one hit.

Davies's other standout albums include Love and Other Unknowns (1979), What Can I Say (1981), Where Is a Woman to Go (1983), Givin' Herself Away (1986), and Blue Heartache (1992). Her most successful single, "It's a Lovely, Lovely World," was released in 1982 and reached number five on the country charts.

An interesting fact about Gail Davies is that she was the first woman to produce her own album, What Can I Say, which was released in 1981. She was also the first female artist to be inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
