Fred Astaire

Fred Astaire (1899-1987) was an American dancer, singer, actor, and choreographer. He was best known for his remarkable stage and film performances of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, most notably the classic musical films he made with Ginger Rogers. Astaire's first major hit was his song "Cheek to Cheek," which was featured in the 1935 film Top Hat. He also starred in Swing Time (1936), Shall We Dance (1937), and The Barkleys of Broadway (1949).

Astaire had many classic albums, including Fred Astaire Sings (1933), Let Yourself Go! (1937), and The Astaire Story (1954). His best-known songs include "The Way You Look Tonight," "Let's Face the Music and Dance," "Night and Day," and "Puttin' on the Ritz."

An interesting fact about Fred Astaire is that he was awarded an honorary Academy Award in 1949 for his contributions to the film industry. He was also the first person to be named a "Living Legend" by the United States Library of Congress.
