Eddy Grant is a Guyanese-British singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer. He is best known for his 1982 international hit "Electric Avenue". Born in Plaisance, Guyana, he moved to London in 1960.

Grant's most popular album was Killer on the Rampage in 1982. The album contained the single "Electric Avenue" and "I Don't Wanna Dance", which both became international hits. Other popular songs from the album include "Living On the Frontline", "War Party" and "Romancing the Stone".

In 1985, Grant released the album, Going for Broke. This album was less successful than his previous one but had several notable songs, including "Gimme Hope Jo'anna", "Boy Oh Boy" and "Living On the Frontline".

In 1989, Grant released the album Born Tuff. This album contained the hit single "Put a Hold On It". Other popular songs from the album include "Gimme Hope Jo'anna", "Banging the Drum", and "Romancing the Stone".

An interesting fact about Eddy Grant is that he is a trained electrical engineer and has worked as an electrician in the past. He is also an avid supporter of renewable energy and has set up a foundation to promote the use of solar energy in his home country of Guyana.
