Duane Allman was an American guitarist and singer-songwriter, best known as the founder and leader of the Allman Brothers Band. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1946, and began playing guitar at the age of 14. He quickly developed into a virtuoso player, and made a name for himself as a session musician in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, where he recorded with artists such as Aretha Franklin and Wilson Pickett.

Duane Allman's most iconic album is the 1971 live album At Fillmore East, which features classic tracks such as "Statesboro Blues," "Whipping Post," and "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed." He also appeared on Eric Clapton's seminal album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, playing on the title track and other songs.

An interesting fact about Duane Allman is that he was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1971, at the age of 24. Despite his tragically short life, his influence on the world of rock music continues to this day.
