Dolly Parton is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, actress, author, and philanthropist, best known for her work in country music. Born in 1946 in Tennessee, Parton began her career as a child performer on a local television show in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Throughout her career, Parton has released over 40 studio albums, several of which have gone multi-platinum. Her most popular albums include ‘Jolene’ (1974), ‘The Bargain Store’ (1975), and ‘Trio’ (1987). Her biggest hit singles include ‘Jolene’ (1973), ‘I Will Always Love You’ (1974), and ‘9 to 5’ (1980).

Parton has won eight Grammy Awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards, and numerous other awards. She has also been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

An interesting fact about Dolly Parton is that she wrote the song ‘I Will Always Love You’ in 1974 as a farewell to her former partner and mentor, Porter Wagoner. The song was later covered by Whitney Houston in 1992 and went on to become one of the biggest-selling singles of all time.
