Detroit Symphony Orchestra Vinyl Records
The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) is one of America’s most acclaimed orchestras and a leader in the cultural life of Detroit. Founded in 1914, the DSO is the fourth oldest symphony orchestra in the United States and the longest continuously-operating symphony orchestra in Michigan. The DSO has recorded many standout albums, such as their 2009 album “Live from Orchestra Hall: Ultimate Classics” and their 2015 album “Beethoven & Tchaikovsky”, which featured music from both composers. Popular songs from the DSO include “Clair de Lune” from their 2009 album, “The Star-Spangled Banner” from their 2015 album, and “Ode to Joy” from their 2018 album “Beethoven: The Complete Symphonies”.
An interesting fact about the DSO is that it was the first orchestra in the United States to perform a concert broadcast live on the radio in 1922. The broadcast was heard by millions of listeners in the United States and Canada. This was a major milestone in the history of classical music and helped introduce classical music to new audiences.
