Dazz Band Vinyl Records

The Dazz Band is a funk and soul band that was formed in 1976 in Cleveland, Ohio. The original lineup included Bobby Harris (lead vocals), Skip Martin (keyboards, lead vocals), Robert "Sput" Searight (drums), Kevin "KD" Davis (guitar), Ronnie Streeter (bass) and Kenny Pettus (saxophone).

Their breakout success came in 1981 when their album, Keep It Live, was released. The album was certified gold and spawned the hit single, "Let It Whip", which won the band their first Grammy for Best R&B Performance. Other notable singles from the album include "Joystick" and "Let It All Blow".

The Dazz Band followed up their success with their 1983 album, On the One, which was certified gold and spawned two Top 10 R&B hits, "Swoop (I'm Yours)" and "Let It All Blow".

The band's most successful album was 1984's Invitation to Love, which featured their biggest hit, "Let It Whip". The song was certified platinum and won the band a second Grammy for Best R&B Performance. Other notable singles from the album include "Joystick" and "Heartbeat".

The band went on to release several more albums and singles, but none achieved the same level of success as their earlier works.

An interesting fact about the Dazz Band is that they are the only group to win a Grammy for Best R&B Performance for a song that was released before 1980 ("Let It Whip").
