Dave Holland is an English jazz double bassist, composer, and bandleader who has been an important figure in jazz since the late 1960s. He was born in Wolverhampton, England, in 1946 and has been a major innovator of jazz bass playing since he began playing professionally in the 1960s. He is best known for his work with Miles Davis, Anthony Braxton, and Chick Corea's Return to Forever.

Holland has recorded numerous albums as a leader, including the acclaimed albums Conference of the Birds (1972), Jumpin' In (1984), Prime Directive (1994), and Not for Nothin' (2007).
